Now that Spring is officially here, that means warmer temperatures to help with the startup of the plants that wereÌýhibernatingÌýover the winter.ÌýLet’sÌýget youÌýup andÌýcrushingÌýit by looking over some of the followingÌýrecommendations for yourÌýplant prior to starting up.ÌýÌý
The following recommendations assume that you followed theÌýappropriate proceduresÌýto shut down the equipment. If you are unaware of theÌýshutdownÌýprocedures, please check outÌýthis blog.Ìý

Starting Up Feeder Drives and ScreensÌý
Different typesÌýof feeder drives, such as Simplicity and Diester, may have different specific instructions. If you are not sure of theÌýappropriate start-upÌýprocedures, refer to your service manuals, vendor books, or reach out for specific information on your plant.Ìý
Prior to placing the Deister vibrating feeder drive and screen back into operation, drain oil from the mechanism tube and refill with the correct type and amount of oil.Ìý
To placeÌýa simplicity vibratingÌýfeederÌýdriveÌýand screenÌýback in operation, remove plugs, re-install the vents, run forÌý40 hours,Ìýthen change the oil.Ìý

Torque-Arm Speed ReducersÌý
If youÌýdrainedÌýthe oil due to your equipment being inactive for a period of 3 months or more, replace the oil with a vaporÌýphaseÌýcorrosion inhibiting oil.Ìý

Starting Up Gasoline-Powered Hydraulic UnitÌý
When you start up yourÌýequipmentÌýthe valves will open and close normally as the engine is starting.ÌýIt’sÌýrecommended that you change the oil if you did not do it prior to shutting off.ÌýÌý

Each engine manufacturer (e.g.ÌýJohn Deere, CAT, etc.) has different procedures for their engine. See the engine manual shipped with the original purchase of the equipment for the proper procedure.Ìý
